Students recognised as Global Ambassadors at the International Student Voice ForumÌýÌý

After a year working together on initiatives, the Global Ambassador group presented at the Department of Education’s International Student Voice Forum in September. Our students were wonderful ambassadors, welcoming other attendees at the forum in their cultural dress and presenting their ideas and initiatives.ÌýÌý

In a new first, our students collaborated online with VCE students from Wenzhou No 21 Middle School and co-created complementary initiatives to run at our schools in Australia and China. Our students were recognised as Global Ambassadors and presented with a badge by the Department of Education for their leadership in piloting this virtual engagement with our sister school in Wenzhou. Congratulations to the group on their achievements throughout the year!Ìý

The 2024 China Study Tour: An Unforgettable Adventure

After much anticipation, 20 students in Years 9 – 11 travelled to China at the end of Term 3 on an unforgettable adventure. Anna Gade and Ryan Elise wrote the following piece for this edition of the Beacon.

From the moment we landed in China, we were immersed in a vibrant culture rich in history and breathtaking landscapes. Our journey included iconic sites like the Great Wall, the Temple of Heaven, and the Chinese traditional opera, each offering a unique glimpse into China’s enduring traditions.

A key theme throughout our travels was the importance of collaboration in Chinese culture. We embraced this idea as a group, which not only kept us safe but also allowed us to proudly represent 51³Ô¹ÏÍø and Australia. This experience fostered our growth and maturity.

One of the most impactful moments was meeting students from our sister schools. Their warm welcome and invitation into their daily lives highlighted our shared similarities and celebrated our differences, deepening our cultural understanding.

As the days passed, our group bonds strengthened, creating profound friendships and lasting memories. Being away from home encouraged us to grow individually and as a cohesive unit, boosting our confidence.

In the end, we returned with invaluable experiences, unique friendships, and a newfound appreciation for Chinese culture. The 2024 China Tour was one of our greatest adventures, and we wholeheartedly encourage future students to seize this incredible opportunity!
